How do Live Dealer Games Work?

Numerous people enjoy the excitement of playing casino games with a dealer or within the atmosphere of the casino. With live casino online games, you can experience that with the added benefit of being at home!

24/7 IconLive casino games are the closest you’ll get to a real-life casino experience without actually having to step foot inside the building and, what’s even better, many providers offer their games 24/7.

During the gaming sessions, the real dealers are located in special studios and broadcasted to you while playing the game. Everything happens in real-time, and some casino sites feature online chat rooms, which allows you to interact with the dealer back and forth.

Meanwhile, the online casino provider acts as the gateway between you, the player, and the real-life dealer. They’re the ones who manage your bets and winnings, which you make in real-time while watching the stream.

Upon logging in to a casino operator’s website, you’ll be tasked with selecting a live casino games dealer. However, there’s no need to stress about it, as the real dealers always make you feel incredibly welcome, some even greet you by name!

One thing people love about live dealer games is that everything is done right in front of you. Players can see cards being shuffled or wheels being spun; it’s completely authentic.

Live dealer games have come a long way since they first became popular. They now offer a large number of games to play, from roulette to blackjack and baccarat. It all depends on the casino operator, however, who may even provide special variations of these games.

Live casino games do follow different rules from regular online casinos. For example, some providers may remove players from streams if they’re inactive and haven’t made a bet or two for several rounds. However, it is possible to rejoin the game later on. Also, since the live game is being streamed, the quality of the stream will depend on your internet connection.

Roulette Table

Live Roulette

Roulette is one of the most popular casino games of all time, so of course, it’s available online and live! Most casino operators offer plenty of live roulette games.

Some variations of the live dealer roulette games offered include auto or slingshot roulette, where the game is played at high speed without a dealer. Other live roulette games may see players make bets on symbols from the classic fruit slot machines rather than numbers.

Out of all the live casino games available, live roulette features the highest possible table limits, and the restrictions on live games are much higher than those at real-life-casinos.

In roulette, players are required to predict and bet on which number a ball will land on. Most games see the dealer release the ball onto the spinning roulette wheel.

When it eventually falls into one of the numbered pockets in the wheel, players are awarded accordingly.

In real-life games, players would place a chip on the number they think the ball will land on. When playing live and online, players need to put a bet and then click the amount they think the ball will fall on.

Blackjack on Mobile

Live Blackjack

Live blackjack is another live casino game that has grown considerably in popularity over recent years. While many online casinos offer amazing variations of the game, live dealer blackjack games do not.

Sadly, the live blackjack games offered are only the classic version. In the game, live dealers will deal two cards to all players. Picture cards, meaning Jacks, Queens, and Kings, all equal 10 points while aces can earn anything between 1-11 points depending on what else is in your hand.

The goal is to beat the dealer by getting as close to 21 points as possible but not going over. If players get to 22 or more, they lose. However, if the dealer deals players an ace and any card with 10 points, they get a blackjack.

To keep things interesting for players, some operators allow insurance bets or side bets, a second bet made over a player’s primary wager. What’s even more interesting is that some live dealer blackjack games allow for more than seven players, which is usually the maximum for regular blackjack. During these games, players can place bets on another player’s hand, meaning there could be an endless amount of players and wins!

Just like live roulette games, the table limits in live blackjack are much higher than those at real casinos. However, the maximum bet offered is up to the casino operator.

Baccarat Chips

Live Baccarat

Much like roulette and blackjack, baccarat is a classic casino game and, similarly to previous games; it’s also available live. Baccarat is easy to understand and play, making it perfect for players looking for a less complicated game with big payouts.

Live baccarat plays the same as the traditional version. Players try to beat the dealer by having a hand value closest to nine. The game features eight decks of 52 cards, and before each deal, players are encouraged to bet on whose hand will win the round.

Punto Banco, a variant of baccarat, is the only version that is played online. However, most live dealer baccarat games feature some extras, as many casino operators allow for side bets as well as wagers on pairs or big and small cards.

Sadly, since the game isn’t as popular as roulette or blackjack, you’ll probably find fewer tables dedicated to live baccarat.

Poker

Live Casino Hold’em

While not as well known as the other games listed here, Casino Hold’em has been growing in popularity in recent years, particularly because it can be played live.

Rather than playing against each other like in ordinary Hold’em games, players compete against the dealer. Since an unlimited number of players can join in, and the game is played via stream with a chat room, it’s a fun experience for everyone involved.

The aim of live dealer Casino Hold’em games is to beat the dealer’s hand by getting the best possible five-card handmade from the two cards dealt with the player and three community cards. The game begins with an ante bet which prompts two cards being dealt with the dealer and players.

Three community cards are then placed on the table. From here, players will be able to continue the game or fold. To continue, players will need to call by placing another bet, which should be twice the ante bet.

If players fold, they lose any money they had already bet. The dealers then select another two community tables, called ‘turn’ and ‘river’, and places them on the table. The live Casino Hold’em dealer then reveals their cards and a winner is determined.

Bonus bets can sometimes be played during live Casino Hold’em. Bonus bets are optional and can never be placed alone. Instead, they can only be placed during a specified amount of time after the ante bet has been set. The bonus bet is then evaluated on the first hand of five cards.

Live Three Card Poker

Three card poker was only invented in 1994, making it a very recent game. Since it is a new game, it is only found in a select number of online casino operators powered by Evolution Gaming. This includes 888Casino, William Hill, LeoVegas and Mr. Green.

Much like live Casino Hold’em games, live dealer three card poker sees players competing against the house, otherwise known as the dealer. This means an unlimited number of players can join in.

To play live three card poker, users must first place an ante bet. The player and dealer then receive three cards dealt down. After this, players are required to either choose to play by putting another bet equivalent to the ante bet or folding and losing any money they had already bet.

However, the dealer then reveals their cards and must have a queen or higher to qualify. If the dealer doesn’t qualify, then the player’s bet is returned, and the ante bet will pay 1:1. If the hands’ tie, the ante and play bets are returned. If you have the better hand, however, the play bet and ante bet pay 1:1.

Unlike other poker games which feature five cards, each poker hand in this game is made up of three cards. The game also doesn’t feature community cards as the player’s three cards are the only ones to compete directly with the live dealer.

What makes live dealer three card poker games interesting is the number of bonuses offered with the game, including an ante bonus, a pair plus bonus and a six card bonus. Each has different rules depending on the online casino operator but offers players new ways to win.

Live Sic Bo

Sic Bo is another game available at online casinos that feature live dealers. Sic Bo is played with three dice and a board where you can place bets. Similar to roulette, live Sic Bo lets users place bets on the total sum of three dice.

Two of the popular bets are small, in which players bet that the sum will be between four and 10, or big, in which the sum lands between 11 and 17.

During live dealer Sic Bo games, the three dice are held under a glass dome. The dealer would then press a button, causing the base to vibrate and forcing the dice roll. When the dice stops, any winning bet is paid to the player.

Right now, however, live Sic Bo games can only be played at select Playtech casinos such as Ladbrokes.

Mobile Casino

Live Mobile Casino

Live mobile casino games are offered by many reputable software providers including Playtech, Netent and Evolution Gaming. The three firms host the live games with real dealers which are then provided on the website of casino operators.

Vuetec, a smaller, less-known operator also provides live casino games. In fact, Vuetec was actually the very first provider of live casino games, streaming them from real casinos back in 2002.

The technology was limited back then, however, and the games were streamed using one camera which was either mounted on the wall or ceiling making the view restricted. This also meant that there was no interaction between the player and dealer. The firm still offers live casino games to this day, though the technology has much improved since first coming onto the scene.

Where Are Live Casino Games Streamed From?

We’ve mentioned a number of live casino providers and how the streams work. But one question you’re probably wondering is where are the streams are coming from?

Well, software providers normally host the streams from studios they own around the world. Sometimes, however, providers may stream from land-based casinos.

Playtech has studios in Latvia and an Asian studio in the Philippines. Evolution Gaming has a live studio at the Casino Rincon de Pepe in Murcia, Spain. They also have a studio in Riga, Latvia.

Visionary iGaming, Ezugi, and Global Gaming Labs all have a studio in Costa Rica while Smartlive Gaming is based in a London studio. Netent streams their live games from a studio in Malta and Actual Gaming streams from their real Dublin-based casino Card Club and Penthouse Casino & Card Club.
