Wales Railway Worker Wins £70,000 with National Lottery Scratchcard

Scratchcards

A railway worker from Wales has won a whopping £70,000 from a National Lottery Scratchcard.

Jordon Morgan, 27, had no idea his life was about to change when he bought the winning scratchcard at his local Merthyr Tydfil store on July 29.

After winning £2 with his first scratchcard and feeling lucky, Morgan decided to buy a second £2 Red Hot 7s Doubler Scratchcard.

The 27-year-old was stunned when he thought he had won £7,000. However, when the shopkeeper checked his scratchcard, he realised Morgan had won the top prize and rushed to call Camelot, the company behind the scratchcards.

Speaking to LeaderLive, Morgan said: “I was totally shocked. My dad owns the pub opposite the shop and I ran straight in shouting, ‘I’ve won seventy grand!’ No one could believe it.”

Jordon Morgan’s New Life

Morgan, who comes from Dowlais, has plans to invest some of the winnings in property development, working with his uncle to renovate and sell houses in their local town.

He said: “My uncle has been investing in property for years and I’ve always helped him with some of the renovations.

“However, this is the first time I will be able to put some of my own money in and I’m really excited to see where this could lead.”

Since discovering he had won top prize, Jordan has bought a second-hand car and booked a holiday to Turkey with his family.

“I’ve got a really big family and lots of them had booked a holiday to Turkey,” Morgan explained. “I couldn’t afford it when they first mentioned it but when I won I thought ‘why not?’ and now I’m all set for the trip.”

He added: “It’s still a bit too much to take in at the moment. I regularly work long hours but with this win, my life will certainly be easier from here on out.”

According to reports, there’s a one in 4.09 chance of winning a prize on the Red Hot 7s Doubler Scratchcard, where prizes range from £2 to £70,000.
