Leading game developer Pragmatic Play has announced the launch of its latest video slot, the British-themed Down The Rails.
The brand-new video slot whisks you away to London, where you’ll meet some of Britain’s most historical figures, all the while trying to find and unlock wins.
Down The Rails uses a 5×3 layout with 20 paylines, and it has an RTP of 96.51% with volatility, which means you’re more likely to make infrequent large wins over regular small ones.
The game requires a bet of between £0.20 and £100 per spin, and its symbols include Henry VIII, William Shakespeare, Sir Isaac Newton, Winston Churchill, Florence Nightingale, Tube Bonus symbols, newspaper Wild symbols, and the usual A, K, Q, and J symbols too.
The Down The Rails slot comes with several notable special features. For example, the newspaper Wild symbols substitute for all symbols except Bonus symbols to help make more winning combinations.
Meanwhile, landing three or more Bonus symbols triggers the Bonus feature or the End Of The Line feature. Before the Bonus begins, one of five possible game features is selected randomly. When you’re given a feature, you can choose to either play with it or gamble it for a higher-tier feature.
One of the features available is Pentonville, a Free Spins mode with five spins. During the feature, winning combinations are marked and form a cluster, and the game re-spins to add more identical symbols to the cluster. This continues until no more symbols join the cluster and winnings are paid.
King’s Cross is another feature, awarding five spins. During the round, the middle reels are marked in a cross and whenever Wild symbols land in a marked spot, all symbols in the remaining marked spots transform into Wilds to make more wins.
Buckingham Palace is another feature with eight free spins. During the feature, fully-stacked vertical Wild symbols can land, but if they’re located off-screen, they will move to cover positions on the reel. When this happens, all of the character symbols will transform into the highest-paying symbol possible.
Finally, the Canary Wharf feature comes with eight free spins. A new Collect symbol will appear on the reels with character symbols displaying money values of between 1x and 50x your bet. If the Collect symbol lands, all on-screen values are collected and awarded.
The End Of The Line feature sees the reels replaced with a grid starting at 3×5, which can grow up to 5×5 in size. The feature starts with three re-spins on an empty grid and only special symbols can spin and appear on the grid. Whenever a special symbol does land, the number of re-spins is reset to three.
The special symbols include Money symbols, which are the game’s character symbols with values of between 1x and 2,500x your bet; Extra Life symbols that reset the re-spin counter to three once three have been collected; Prize Boost symbols, which collect the value of all Money symbols once three have been collected; Expand symbols that expand that grid when three are collected; and Multiplier symbols that award Multipliers whenever three are collected.
Finally, the Down The Rails slot has five random spin features that can be triggered randomly on any spin. These include Tunnel Vision, where Mystery symbols appear and transform into the same-paying symbol; The Big Smoke, where one 3×3 colossal symbol appears on the reels or a Bonus symbol is added to the reels; Wild Strike, which adds Wild symbols to the reels; Shifting Stack, which adds Shiting Stack Wild symbols to the reels with Multipliers; and Bonus Blitz, which randomly activates the Bonus feature.
Irina Cornides, the Chief Operating Officer at Pragmatic Play, said in a statement: “Producing feature-filled slots that our fans adore is always the driving force behind our game production and Down The Rails is filled with more features than perhaps any other release thus far.
“The game will have mechanics triggering throughout the base game and allows players to gamble their free spins in order to gain more lucrative rewards if they are feeling lucky.
Cornides added: “We are excited to see players’ reception to this London-inspired release and which bonus out of the five on offer will be their favourite.”
