PayPal Partners With Gamban To Offer Gambling Payment Blocks

PayPal Gamban

PayPal has announced a groundbreaking partnership with Gamban to enable its customers to block gambling transactions.

Gamban is online software that allows users in selected jurisdictions to block online gambling across all of their installed devices, including iOS and Android smartphones and tablets, Windows and Mac computers, and more.

Now, according to a press release by Gamban, users in the UK and the US can now block online gambling transactions, including games of chance and skill, casino games, sportsbook and sports betting wagers, horse or greyhound racing, person-to-person betting, lottery tickets, gaming machines, and gambling-related ventures too.

At the time of writing, the transaction blocking software can only be turned on by contacting a PayPal support agent via their Message Centre and explaining that you’d like to block online gambling transactions.

A statement from Gamban reads: “PayPal offering its users the option to block gambling transactions is a welcome addition to the gambling recovery toolkit. As we’ve always said, to give yourself the best chance of successfully overcoming your addiction, you may need more than one tool.

“Between blocking gambling transactions at your bank and PayPal, blocking online gambling with Gamban, self-excluding yourself with GAMSTOP and seeking support from GamCare, you’ll give yourself the best chance at recovery.”

The agreement comes as the gambling industry looks to improve its social responsibility ahead of the UK Government’s review of the Gambling Act 2005, and as the US’s gambling industry continues to grow following the repeal of the Professional and Amateur Sports Provision Act 1992 in 2018.

What Other Responsible Gambling Tools And Software Are Available?

Gamban, which is available for free through TalkBanStop, allows you to block online gambling apps and websites across all devices. Alongside it is GAMSTOP, which is used to self-exclude yourself from all partnered gambling websites for a select period of time.

There’s also GamCare, which offers free information, advice, and support to anyone harmed by gambling. Its professional advisers are available for free 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and the service allows for live group chats and runs an online message board too.

Alongside all of the above, most casinos in the United Kingdom also run a range of tools that can be implemented to keep yourself protected. These tools can include deposit limits, loss limits, time limits, lock withdrawals, and plenty more too.
