Light & Wonder, formerly known as Scientific Games, has announced the acquisition of game developer and content provider Playzido.
The company has described Playzido’s Remote Gaming Server (RGS) as one of the best in the iGaming industry for rapid custom game development and has said that the platform will accelerate the pace at which Light & Wonder can partner with game studios and operators to co-create new content for players.
Light & Wonder’s purchase follows a similar acquisition of Lightning Box, and it will provide a faster route to market for studios that do not own their own development platform but can utilise Playzido’s technology to develop games and then take advantage of Light & Wonder’s OpenGaming aggregation platform to distribute their games.
Playzido was launched in 2018 by Stuart Banks, formerly of Paddy Power and Betfair, and the company has cemented its presence across Europe. Under Light & Wonder, the company is now looking to break into further markets, including North America.
