Gambling has continued to rise in popularity over recent years, and in addition to the number of online casinos available in the UK, there are several real casinos that offer various games and amazing experiences to gamblers. With how large London is, is it even surprising to discover that the city is home to over a dozen luxurious and jaw-dropping casinos?
We’ve visited London’s finest casinos and have decided to select three of our favourites to show you where to go when you’re in London. However, if you fancy something truly fancy, make sure to visit the Ritz Club located just beside Green Park tube station, which we’ve reviewed here.
1. The Hippodrome Casino
The Hippodrome Casino is one of London’s most famous real casinos located directly in the middle of Leicester Square, a buzzing tourist hotspot with plenty of places to eat and drink. The casino, which opened back in 2012, is comprised of four floors which each offer a wide variety of gaming options.
The primary gaming floor at the casino features 45 casino tables for popular games including roulette, blackjack, pai gow, baccarat and more. It also has 100 electronic games and a dedicated poker room which holds daily tournaments and cash games. In addition to all of this, there are six bars and lounges as well as an outdoor smoking terrace. And since the casino is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, there’s always time to fit in some gaming.
The casino is also home to a top-rated restaurant. The Heliot Steak House, which was named the Best Steak Restaurant in London, overlooks the main gaming floor and is open from 5pm during the week and from noon at the weekends.
The Hippodrome is so popular that it actually hosts the UK and Ireland Poker Tour and acts as an online casino, providing users with even more ways to play. It also acts as a venue for watching live sports and houses a 128-seat theatre featuring music, comedy, burlesque and cabaret performances.
2. Aspers Stratford
Aspers is regarded as London’s “super-casino”. The huge casino first opened in 2011 and can be found at Stratford’s Westfield Shopping Centre, one of the UK’s largest shopping centres which features over a hundred shops, restaurants and bars.
The casino offers 70 live gaming tables, over 150 slot machines and what is considered to be one of London’s best poker rooms. Aspers, which is open 24 hours a day and seven days a week, also offers daily poker cash games and tournaments. In addition to this, Aspers features sports betting terminals and visitors can experience live music at Sky Bar.
It doesn’t end there, however, as there are several dining and bar options at Aspers, from authentic Chinese and Indian food to some jaw-dropping grill options. The restaurant is open 24 hours a day for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Meanwhile, the Sky Bar is the place to go for a refreshing drink, as it provides visitors with a relaxed setting to listen to music, enjoy a cocktail and an outdoor terrace overlooking the Olympic Park.
In addition to all of that, Stratford’s Aspers casino also offers several ways to play online, so even if you can’t make it to the real casino, you can experience their great games online. One thing to mention, however, is that Aspers has a strict smart-casual dress code, so anyone looking too sloppy will be turned away.
3. Grosvenor Victoria Casino
The Grosvenor Victoria Casino, known as ‘The Vic’, is one of London’s longest running casinos. The Grosvenor is known for its famous poker room, which hosts numerous daily tournaments and cash games. Some of the best poker players from all over the world have played at the Vic and it features a huge selection of electronic games to play, including electronic roulette, punto blanco and blackjack.
The Vic offers over 30 casino table games, as well as 20 jackpot slots and 32 touchbet roulette machines. Meanwhile, the poker room hosts some of the biggest poker events in Europe, including the Governor UK Poker Tour and the European Poker Tour.
It’s also home to a restaurant called the Dining Room which serves European and Middle Eastern cuisine as well as traditional steak and seafood options. A bar can also be found at the Grosvenor’s poker room that overlooks the gaming floor, offering visitors lavish cocktails.
The casino also hosts events such as the Learn to Play, which allows eager gamblers to learn how to play their favourite games. Like Aspers and the Hippodrome, the Vic also allows players to play their favourite games online.
