Dayton Racino History
The Dayton racino was originally established in 1959 as Raceway Park in Toledo, Ohio, where it hosted car racing and thoroughbred racing.
After Ohio Governor John Kasich legalised video lottery terminals at horse tracks in 2011, Pen Nation, the company operating the racino, decided to move the site from Toledo to Dayton in order to avoid having it compete with its own Hollywood Casino Toledo.
Raceway Park was moved to Dayton in the Spring of 2014 and the new racino opened on August 28, 2014, and featured over 1,000 video lottery terminals. Today, it is named Hollywood Gaming at Dayton Raceway and is owned by Gaming and Leisure Properties
Like other racinos, the Dayton racino offers numerous slot games for guests to play. This includes licensed games on films, television shows and games such as The Wizard of Oz and Clue. It also offers traditional three-reel fruit slots and Egyptian themed slots.
Some other popular games at Dayton racino include Dancing Drums, Double Gold, Plants versus Zombies 3D, Big Red Lantern, Star Watch Magma, Monopoly Money and much more.
The Dayton racino also offers live harness horse racing, which the site is most famous for. Their 2018 live harness racing season runs from September 10 to December 29 and the racino offers guests side seating with up-close views of the action.
The track also has a Trackside Concessions area which offers an array of quick snacks and drinks. In addition to this, the racino features simulcast racing seven days a week from noon to midnight.
Guests can watch and bet on the simulcast horse races from around the country at the racino’s simulcast theatre and clubhouse.
